Chapter 8 Post
Chapter eight is a very serious chapter. In the end of this chapter Wilson shoots Gatsby and then himself. Wilson believes that Gatsby had an affair with his wife and than killed her. He believes this because the car that killed his wife was Gatsby's car; but Gatsby was not driving it. Tom was the person who was having the affair with Wilson's wife. I am very shocked when i read this. Throughout this whole book nobody had died. Even though the characters have had their disagreements nobody had died. I was not expecting this murder/suicide at all. I was expecting everybody to just pick a side and get on with their life. Daisy would move away with Tom and Gatsby would move away too. All the characters were shocked too. Nick could not believe it but he didn't seem to act sad; he just pitied Gatsby and his life. Daisy and Tom move away and just pretend they have never heard of Gatsby. A theme that has taken place here is live your life with no regrets. No matter how on top of the world you may feel things can change so quickly so easily. One moment Gatsby is a billionaire with hundreds of "friends" and an affair with the love of his life and the next minute he is dead floating in his pool with no friends to even come to his funeral. I predict that everyone who knew Gatsby will try to forget about him and move on.

Exacly how serious is this chapter Sam? I will agree how shocking this whole chapter was and the events that had occurred. I knew something bad was going to happen but I didnt think Gatsby would die and then Wilson killing himself. It is pretty sad that not many of the "friends" that went to the parties went to the funeral. Its sad and I do not know how you felt but I thought that Nick sort of felt obligated being his best and one of his only true friends to set up the funeral. What do you think pal?
